UNITED AMERICAS is a registered non-profit Federal Election Commission political action committee (PAC) dedicated to fighting anti-Latino and anti-immigrant racism. Using the power of shareable content, impactful social media usage and headline-generating confrontations with political personnel who promote racism , discrimination and xenophobia, UnitedAmericas.org is a movement of Latinos, immigrants and social progressives of all origins committed to fighting for equality and justice. With its bold youth-centered and Internet-savvy approach, UnitedAmericas.org will work to turn out the Latino and progressive vote and give a voice to people Republican candidates try marginalize and use as scapegoats. We are the United States of America. "United" is in our name. We do support a massive deportation effort - but of racism, not people.
The Vision: The goal for the website was to create a more informative, intuitive and user-friendly desktop and mobile experience for the viewer. We wanted the website to be effective and very attractive in our world of drive-by users. It has to have a purpose — a clear, explainable, concise purpose that people can spot immediately. To achieve what we wanted it had to be through a process of good design.
The website for United Americas is a site intended to be utilized by people of all ages and all ethnic backgrounds who find themselves with a desire to learn and be a part of the fight towards discrimination of the Latino community within the Americas.
The site is to work as a beacon of democracy and human rights, it is supposed to be an example of justice and a safe haven for recent arrivals and settled individuals that seek to be part of the fabric of this country. As workers, families, and children, ALL Latino immigrants are contributors to the well-being of this society. They are the farmers, the factory workers, the nannies, the domestic workers, the landscapers and maintenance workers. They are also the doctors, the lawyers, the professionals and skilled workers that bring innovation to our economy. They all deserve the most basic protections of life and safety.
Lastly, the United Americas website provides viewers and activists with a platform to discover and view news, stories and upcoming projects from the Latino community at any time directly from the website. The development and design of the website is created to target a audience of all ages with the will to stand up against racism and discrimination within their nation and the entire Americas.
